Letting Go of Ego: Embracing Self-Love and Compassionate Connection

We are social-emotional beings in a thinking-driven world. Did you know that your emotions drive your thoughts? Have you ever spent time thinking about what you're thinking, or better yet, dropped within your heart to discover what you are feeling?

Are you living your best life? Happy with how it is evolving? Surrounded by people who build you up? Do you place your happiness upon others and things to fill the inner void you feel? Is that working for you? Your ego, that inner voice of doubt, fear, and self-sabotaging messages, wants you to believe you are living the life you deserve.

What sabotaging messages does your ego/self-critic tell you? Take some time and listen to what you tell yourself. Are the thoughts to tell yourself kind, compassionate or loving? Would they be words you would tell your best friend? Who said those words to you growing up? When you tell yourself negative things; I'm stupid, idiot, fat, ugly, less than, deserving of feeling guilty, shame-filled, unworthy of being happy, and more, how does that make you feel?

What are some ways that you can flip the script your ego tells you? It begins with taking the baby step inward in self-discovery which leads to uncovering the grief that is clouding the love beneath it. When you shed the layers of heavy grief, your true self; love will emerge.

Take several moments today to pause, drop into your thoughts, sense how your body is feeling, and ask yourself are the self-critical messages I am thinking and feeling true? Is feeling and thinking this helping me or hurting me more? Practice locating three things you are grateful for within yourself or in your environment.
